Owen Paterson, former environment secretary, says that we can protect communities from flooding by leaving the European Union.
“He told the Today programme that it is "impossible" to have a European wide environmental policy due to the different environments in each country and if Britain left the EU then it could "improve the environment and protect against flooding"(1)
